AP Scores

I perform really well in my AP classes, but every time I sit to take an AP test, my nerves get the best of me and I never end up performing as well as I should.
I am applying to many ivies and other top schools, and I was wondering if I should report my AP scores in my common app.

My scores so far are…

AP Euro: 4
AP U.S. 5
AP U.S. gov 5
AP Stats 4 (this one makes me really nervous because I have heard colleges view stats as really easy)
AP English lang 3

What are the specific AP requirements for your desired schools?

No college in the US have AP requirements.

For the OP, I’d have no issue listing your scores, since you passed. If you want to not list the 3, go ahead. It’s not like your scores will make or break your application.

Colleges know that not all AP courses carry the same rigor. No college will argue that stats, or psych, or human geography is at the same level as Calc BC. That said, any college that rejects you for a 4 would not have accepted you with a 5, IMO.

I think waht @RMNiMiTz means is what does the college require for credit

For example at Rutgers:

You would get credit for a Stats course with a 4 or 5, but not for English Lang with a 3.

Or he may mean that you are not required to take any AP Courses or take any tests (but it is good if you can if they are offered).

So report the ones you would get credit for (4s and 5s)

@skieurope

When I say “specific AP requirements” I meant the specific AP requirements for his school in order to get credit.

If he wants to go to the ivies or more elite schools, the AP requirements are higher for credit.

Like @bopper mentioned, schools should have their AP reqs on their website.

Thanks for clarifying

I totally disagree with this. Every college will be different in its AP credit policy. Tailoring an application for each individual school is bound to results in errors. Certainly if the OP wants to report those scores which the majority of the schools will give credit for, that’s fine.

Again, I truly doubt that anyone’s AP scores, unless they are all 1’s and 2’s, will make or break any application.

I think of it this way…if you get a 5, that is like an A. A 4 is a B.etc.
But if you get a 1 or 2 you are just saying that you have not mastered that material yet and still need to take it in college…like most people do anyway.
