I’ve always been a decent Spanish student, but this year I’m taking AP and the AP exercises are killing me. Does it get better than this? I know it seems like a stupid question, but I’m kinda discouraged right now and the teacher said that the exercises in the book increase in difficulty.

At my school, it was a two year course and I stopped this year, as a senior, because it got to a point of tediousness. I do not think it gets better. In my opinion, most languages are not taught to make you fluent, they are taught so you can take a test.

Yes, it gets better. As bryman said, many/most languages are taught so that you are able to take the AP test rather than to teach the language. I’d be willing to bet that, if you choose to take Spanish classes after taking the AP test, you’ll find them to be a different environment. After the AP course, the higher-level classes tend to focus more on culture of the people and history of the language than mundane grammar concepts. Naturally, this gives you a better chance to learn useful vocabulary and terminology.
