I’m working on brushing up my AP Stats knowledge for fun so my teacher gave me a FRQ practice test. He doesn’t know when it is from, but he just gave me the questions. I don’t know what year it is from, but it does include a question about the bird flu virus, so it must be fairly recent. I checked on the CB website, but I couldn’t find any old tests that matched. It’s most likely a practice test from the AP teacher site, but my teacher said he doesn’t know which one it is and he doesn’t have time to figure it out. It starts on page 51 and goes to page 58. Can anyone help me out? The questions begin as follows:

“Caffeine, a chemical found in many popular beverages, is known for reducing fatigue…”

“Members of the research and development division of a bicycle manufacturer…”

“An important method for controlling the spread of the H6N2 influenza (bird flu) virus in chickens…”

“The department of parks and recreation of a certain city…”

“Bone minderal density (BMD) is a measure of bone strength…”

“An engineer is developing a polymer material and is concerned that the mean density, d, of the mineral is not sufficiently close to the target value of 1.37 kilograms…”

I took that test! That was on my mock AP Stat test! I asked my teacher about it, and she said that it’s a practice exam that AP Stat teachers can get from the CollegeBoard, so you’re right. The bird flu question was so annoying! I remember I was taking it with the rest of the class on a regular period (so we took the first three questions on one day and the rest on the next) and you could tell that everyone was working on the chicken question when there were like 2 minutes left, and I got so confused about the false positives and false negatives, and the questions were like, “what’s the probability that not more than 3 chickens will not be said to be infected?” or something really confusing like that, and when I looked at everyone’s confused and flustered faces, I just cracked up. And the girl next to me was like, “Stop laughing!” but I just couldn’t help it because it was so funny how everyone was frustrated over chickens.

by the way, the real test is a lot easier than that.

I took that same mock one also and I swear I almost cried over those stupid chickens. They were far too confusing for my taste (no pun intended). I think I still have my copy of it with my teachers notes off to the side but I didn’t do well at all on it (I think I got 3 points out of 27?) SO you may not want it. I’ll look around and see if I can find it.

Hey man I have the same test for this year! I can put up all the questions, but I need help finding out what the answers are. This counts as part of my stats final.

I took that practice test in my Stat class as well. I scored a couple of points under my average on the MC and I missed points on the FRQs for little mistakes. My teacher graded it a lot more strictly than I think even the AP graders would. I think that test is a lot harder than the real AP test. I score 4s and 5s on practice tests out of review books and I get full credit on most FRQs on AP Central. I barely scraped by with a 4 on that one though.
