Is there any disadvantage of taking stats before trig or is it fine to take both at the same time? How difficult is Stats and world and how can I best prepare for these courses? For stats, there will be people in AP calc ab, some in hon trig, and regular trig. Thanks.

Stat is very, very easy. You will be just fine without trig seeing as statistics (at least AP) doesn’t involve trigonometry at all. You shouldn’t need to do any outside prep. You will be just fine.

You barely even need Algebra II for AP Stat. It isn’t a difficult subject, but the FRQs will surprise you if you don’t really know your stuff. To best prepare, get a good review book like Barron’s or REA and study with it. I had a teacher that was teaching for the first time and really didn’t know it that thoroughly. I was able to get by and feel pretty confident on the AP exam without getting much out of the class. Pay close attention to all of the little details and you should do fine.

I kinda want to start learning some of the material over the summer? Does the library offer and textbooks or should I borrow a book from my school to self-study?

I’m sure there are good Stat books out there that your library can provide. A great textbook is Introduction to Statistics and Data Analysis by Peck, Olsen, and Devore. Make sure you get a review book to go along with it though; it makes things a lot easier.

I also did stats as a sophomore. Don’t worry it’s not that bad. Just do homework and read the txtbook. Also buy barrons: helped me on the AP test and do tons of practice.

And remember that half of the formulas they give you on the exam aren’t exactly necessary, but some of them are actually helpful. One of the FRQs for this year required a couple of the formulas, so it would help a lot if you familiarize yourself with them as you prepare.

Yeh, I think it’ll be challenging since it’s a different type of math from alg. 2 this year. Anyone have any stratergies for taking notes in ap classes in general? This is my 2nd/3rd one, and I never used cornell notes; just definition, examples, and sections.

It helps to take notes on flashcards. I broke down all of the main points out of Barron’s AP Statistics from each chapter onto flashcards. They came in handy toward exam time, especially when I was trying to remember all of the different tests and confidence intervals.

I tried looking up the textbook in my local library catalog and it didn’t show up. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to go back to school and get a textbook for the summer .
