How do AP test scores factor into admissions? Do high scores help or are they overlooked like SAT 2’s?

Let’s hope they’re overlooked since I took none of the tests lol.

If only admissions would give a straight answer. That said, a string of ones would certainly not help an application.

I wonder why they are hesitant to give a solid idea of its importance. I pray that they look at it though. The one thing working for me and they don’t care much about it!

I think they do care about APs, if you have them. My SAT and ACT results weren’t very good, but I had a 2250 on my SAT IIs and straight 5s on my APs. Although I can never be sure because test scores aren’t that emphasized, I would like to think that my ‘difficult test’ results played an impact in my admission.

One of the most important things Chicago wants to see is the rigor of your coursework – have you challenged yourself as much as possible within the context of your school. For better or worse, at many schools, AP and IB courses and exams quantify that. OTOH, if you have some significant academic interest you have pursued outside of school and have documented it/written about it in your essays, that may help your cause, too.

I surely hope Chicago looks nicely upon and takes rigor within the context of your own school into high consideration. Because, i have the single toughest course load at my school-and that’s only 5 AP’s this year, 8 total.

AP tests are almost certainly not an essential component, because some school districts do not offer them. If you have taken AP classes, it is likely that admissions readers will look to see whether you took the tests and, if so, how well you did on the tests.
