Not to frighten anyone, but my US history teacher was one of the graders for the test, and told my class that out of 1700 essays, none of them got a 9, 15 8s, and then he said most scores ranged from a 3-5. He mostly graded that last question (which sucked the most).

scary. O_o

oh jeez… do you mean WWII home front question?

^ Either that or the… I think it was a question about labor unions. But yeah, I am confident my essay got at least a 5, so hopefully I am one of the exceptions. XD

Technically, the last question (#5) was the WWII home front question. But I really hope you’re talking about the labor unions essay.

It was the question with the labor unions/ethnic groups on the homefront, but he said like 90% of the essays were on the ethnic groups. I wouldn’t be too worried, because this was the toughest essay probably for most people anyway. You also have to account for all the people that doodled and basically didn’t write an essay, plus the people who unfortunately didn’t answer the question in their essay.

people probably screwed up on the last one because they only knew about the japanese and their experience on the home front (from people i have talked to) and i know some people who screwed up because they wrote about the groups overseas (i.e. the jews and the holocaust specifically)

Yeah, he mentioned the people who wrote about overseas groups.

I wrote on the Labor Unions option, and I honestly didn’t mine was quite that bad. xD

I wrote the labor unions one and personally, I think it’s very weak
but compared to the DBQ it looks ****ing great.

I wrote about the labor unions, and I read the chapter the night before. I killed that essay. For the DBQ, I fortunately had to do a “decade project” in my AP US class in which we had to choose an important decade in history and research as much as we could. I luckily got the 1820’s (which fell in the time frame for the DBQ) so I had a lot to write about. As for the British imposition one, it was okay, but again, I got saved by reading Crash Course, specifically those last sections at the end which summarized the most important Acts passed.

how are the essays scored??

only 2 people in my school out of (100 or so APUSH takers) took the labor prompt. Personally, I thought that it was a pretty obscure, hard prompt. The same thing happened with the “beginning of the Republican party” one

Even if it was a difficult question, the essays should be graded so that the best responses equate to 8s and 9s. Personally, I chose #5, so I’m feeling better.

I remembered the most about the labor unions. My class had to rush through WWII, so I didn’t learn much there, but we focused a lot on labor unions. I nailed most of the facts about them.
