AP US History: WWI question

Hey guys, can you help me answer this question? Why did President Wilson have such difficulty getting his own allies at the Paris Peace Conference to accept the principles of the Fourteen Points? I need to answer with a 9-10 sentence response. Please help! I dont know where to begin.

P.S. I can help anyone with any ap chem help!

Well, for the European powers, they were bitter after the war. The Fourteen points proposed peace and mercy towards the enemy. But European allies had lost millions of lives, and in France’s case, had their land devastated. They did not want to be lienent with Germany; they wanted to punish it. He also had difficulty, and eventually failed to bring theTreaty home, because some Republican members of the Senate feared it the League of Nations; they worried it would comprise Congressional authority to declare war.

That is a VERY brief synopsis.
