Ap World History

I’m currently self studying for world, and was wondering if we need to know so much about the individual rulers of each kingdom. For example, do we need to know what Chandragupta II did? Or what the several Nubian rulers did? In the barrons, it doesn’t mention any of these monarchs, so I was just a bit confused…

Also, will barrons and princeton review be enough for self studying? With the flash cards :p?

Barrons will suffice for passing the exam. Really, its a waste of time and money really to use PR and the flash cards along with it. As far as individual rulers are concerned, the test is more focused on the broader aspects as compared to specific details. I didn’t even see Nubian rulers last may on the exam so its not important. Barrons is amazing…got me a five.

Specific rulers for ancient Asian countries aren’t really that important. For that matter, ancient African rulers aren’t that important either. Just know the names of some of the more important rulers, and that should suffice. Leave the smaller details for more modern times.

I’d go in the other direction and say Barron’s is a waste of time and money. Princeton Review’s book gives you all the important information you’ll need for the exam, and if you’re self-studying, you really won’t need more than that. Also, I don’t remember PR ever having flash cards… Barron’s has a lot of extra information that a self-studyer cramming for an exam won’t need to know. Unless you really want to learn the material for your own purposes, Princeton Review will suffice. For that matter, if you really wanted to learn the material, you’re probably better off reading a textbook.

ya… I’m reading roughly 100 pages a week or entire barrons in roughly 3 weeks, and plan on reading it twice b4 the end of this year(2007). But thanx for the help :stuck_out_tongue: I’ll see if i could borrow the princeton review
