APES Questions

On released AP Environmental Science FRQs,

I put “government wants to lower the population”, but the scoring rubric says the answer is

“Countries are facing overpopulation issues”.

did i get it right

The APES FRQ questions are so subjective…

I guess you would get it right, but you should be really careful of what you say. If the proper answer is “countries are facing overpopulation issues” the government necessarily doesn’t want to lower the current population, but either control the current population (stabilize the level) or develop new innovative methods that would reduce the risks of an overpopulated country. For instance, historically people were worried we would outstrip all our resources and famines would be widespread with an increase in population, but the growth in technology was more than enough to counterbalance this.
