I got mail (snail mail
) telling me that it wasn’t every day that a college decides not to take money, but through a Small School Talent Search, they have decided to refund my money. Is that in some form a likely letter? The end of the letter says something along the lines wishing me a successful future.

Good sign?

Oh, in the letter, they also told me that they were hoping for the best in my admissions and things like that…

Go down, there a thread similar to this. A student who worked in the Admission Office said that this WAS NOT a sign of admittance, but UChicago is actively recruiting in rural areas. This will give the benefit of geographical diversity, so it helps :). But it’s not a definite sign of admittance.

To confirm, I was the student that said this- this is NOT a likely letter, sorry, just a nice gesture on the part of the admissions office to try and increase the number of student applicants from rural areas or small schools. Some people know beforehand that their school qualifies for Small Schools Talent Search and don’t pay the fee upfront- others don’t know, or are the first applicants from their school, and, like you, get the refund in the mail.

hm so that’s how you get rid of bats. a good thing to know.
