appeal college expulsion

I was just expelled from college and have 3 days to appeal. In order for me to appeal, it has to fit one of the two criteria. The first is “The student has submitted/presented information that indicates a clear error in the Student Conduct procedure that may have affected the final outcome of the board’s decision”. The second is “The student has submitted/presented new evidence or new information that did not exist at the time of the University Hearing Board that would have a bearing on the board’s original findings”. I’ve decided to use the first criteria since the second one doesn’t apply to me. After reading and rereading the student handbook, I finally found an error. The error is “In order to have their perspective represented in the case packet, the student must submit their materials to the Office of Community Standards and Civility (CS&C) within 3 business days following their Behavioral Hearing”. I consider this an error because I was only given 1 day instead of the 3 days. Is this a good enough error to appeal the hearings decision? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You’ll need to demonstrate that the error “may have affected the final outcome.” Like, presenting evidence that WOULD have gone in the packet if you had had the extra days. If your packet was already as strong as possible, then probably not.
