appeal for grade change=valedictorian=me

ok, so i want to be valedictorian (2010) and give the speech at graduation (as do many other people)

but the thing preventing me from this is a screw up in an elective grade the first semester during my freshman year. it was at a different school btw. it’s one single bad grade in a frivolous class that ruined it for me. the class was like a guidance class…i still hate myself for making that mistake and taking it

so my question is, can past teachers have the ability to change grades?? it’s been over 2 years now btw.

The statue of limitations has long since passed. Sit back and get ready to clap.

what statute of limitations?

Blunt, lol.

I don’t think they can change it. It might be worth trying, though. On the other hand, you made the mistake of slacking off, and it’s coming back to haunt you.

^ i did not slack off >=[
it was an elective class!! i’ve gotten As in everything else

teachers always have the choice to change past grades.
if it’s after a year though, they have to be in collaboration with the guidance department though.

Can’t you just do really well during your senior year? I really doubt that they’d be able/willing to do anything about it, especially if it was at a different school. What kind of “screw up” did you make that warrants appealing your grade?

lol i didn’t screw up
that teacher was screwed up
well, i know that some people are gonna keep straight As throughout senior year, so if won’t matter if i do well my senior year because i won’t move up in rank

it was called “exploring leadership” and the teacher didn’t teach crap. and we had a permanent sub for a month because his wife had a baby. yepp. the sub left a bad report, and he gave people bad grades.

^ just a thought. you could always screw over the people ahead of you in rank. be friends with them and stuff. if the valedictorian is of the opposite gender then you could always just do a really lowly trick and stuff. idk. that just sounds horrible. scratch that.

guidance counselor! and teacher! just talk to him and get him to talk to the counselor. :]

You can try to audit the class.

^omgsh! that’s horrible lol no one val is a girl though
i hope that they get Bs in AP classes next year (sounds really bad)
some of the prospective vals don’t deserve to be ranked #1, this one dude has his SAT in the 1800s

i’m gonna send that teacher an email. what should i write?

how do i audit a class??

honestly, i find this kind of conversation better done face to face.
lol, i know, haha. that’s not very nice, but it’s just a thought. ;p

It really depends on your school. At my school, if you’re not satisfied with a grade, you can audit a class, which basically means it is recorded as pass/fail on your transcript. Usually it doesn’t affect your GPA, so you theoretically would be the first ranked person. Maybe. I’m not sure of your exact situation, but it’s worth looking into.

ur being a little *****, stop it!

hmm…audit…do most high schools allow you to do that??

I don’t know. Mine does. Look in your course description guide, or contact the counseling office.

OK, to me you’re coming off as a real ***. People who excel in school don’t necessarily ace the SAT. The title of valedictorian has nothing to do with SAT score, and it’s not like an 1800 means the kid is dumb.

In any event, this is very unlikely to happen. It’s been two years, and school administrators are never looking to add more work to their plate. You don’t even have a legitimate reason for a grade change. If you still really want this, only a face-to-face meeting will suffice (as others have pointed out). Bring your parents if you have to.

^thanks for being so nice

Just ask your school’s administration. We can’t help you. They probably won’t change it. It will be obvious that you’re just worried about your GPA, because you didn’t complain when it happened.
