If you have one of the more recent versions of the Apple Watch that has the capability to measure your blood O2 level but it got turned off in a patent dispute about 18 mos ago. Perhaps they redesigned it to use only the basic pulse oximetry technology from the 1970s, without any enhancements and improvements covered by Masimo patents.
For standalone pulse oximeters, you can get basic ones for $10 or so, but Masimo ones with their patented enhancements and improvements cost much more.
You can also buy medical grade Oximeters from Nonin which also have Bluetooth capability on ebay for under $30. I have several and they perfectly match the readings at all medical offices, so I believe they are higher quality than some of the generic ones, especially if folks have low O2 readings.
I have the first version of the Ultra, so I never lost it, which was nice.
I never lost it either. (I think my watch is version eight?) But I did go ahead and do the update on my watch and I haven’t tried to see if it’s any different.
