@jym626 But will they only replace them if capacity is below 80%?
See… the complaining got something of value to some of us. A $29 battery is better than some ten bucks or so from a class action lawsuit settlement.
It says “for batteries that need to be replaced”. You can check the apple help posts. I am having trouble copying and pasting the article on my phone (irony is not lost on this)
And my phone was showing at 72%. Now it shows 50% . It’s from some app and I don’t know if it’s accurate.
When I replaced my 6 battery in October it was evaluated at the Apple store as “fully consumed.” 3 years.
Go to your settings. Look in “battery”. Mine says it “may need to be repaired”. I will make the appointment as soon as they say they are available.
@jym626, where in the i-phone settings is the battery? I don’t see it when I go to settings.
@Nrdsb4 settings>battery
Nothing in my settings tab says battery. I have an i-phone 6.
What ios do you have? I also have the 6, but ios 11 (whatever iteration/update they are on).
Look under general>battery
I have an old software version.Very old, in fact. My phone will not update, even after I hit “agree”-the Apple store guy said it’s “corrupted.” It will require at least an hour at the store to fix it, if they can fix it, and I haven’t had time to do it. That must be why there is no battery setting.
they will try to tell you to wipe your phone and restore it to its original settings. Dont do it.
@jym626 , care to explain why?
Takes forever (as in many hours) and you have to reinstall all the pwds to all your apps. after they all reinstall. It was a day-long process (literally) and for naught. Major PITA. Oh, and it didnt solve the problem I was having. They are full of baloney and want to blame an app when its an apple issue.
Well, that makes my decision for me. DH gave me a new i-phone 8. I was debating on whether to get my phone fixed or not, but I think I’ll take the new one. I hope I can have the other one wiped clean and loaded with generic stuff to give to my nephew. The challenge is going to be transferring my photos, music, and contacts without transferring whatever is corrupted on my current phone.
My guess is that it is not corrupted. If your phone is too full, it will not upload the latest software because there isn’t room for it. If there is some corruption, it’s probably not something that would transfer. I would delete any apps you really don’t use, though, before a transfer.
I agree with @MomofWildChild. Its unlikely anything is corrupted. How much storage did your old phone have? WHne there is a problem with the phone, apple will try to blame something else. As @MomofWildChild said, its ether. storage issue, or there is some software glitch (assuming they ran a diagnostics on it and it was generally ok).

Every iOS update takes up additional space in your phone’s “hard drive.” If you also have apps and photos, the update will not load if there is no space for it. And apple heads were giving MSFT a hard time over Windows updates doing this thing…
The Apple guy said there was plenty of space for the update.
