I have an iPhone plus bought last year – it does not have an earphone jack and it did not come with earphones of any sort.
^It must be a mistake. My D got a 7 last year. It came with a new earphone. I got an X this year it came with an earphone. They fit into the charge port and works just like an old earphone. They even gave me a dongle to adapt an old earphone to the charge port in case I insist on using an old earphone on the new phone. I don’t.
The iPhone 7 plus has no earphone jack and didn’t come with anything to plug into the charging jack.
@HarvestMoon1 Take a looks at the third and fourth pictures in the link. They show an EarPod using lightening port/charge port. This is what’s inside the iPhone 7 plus package.

That’s what the picture appears to show @Igloo. My box was thinner than the one pictured and did not contain the earphones. In fact, I was unaware until you posted upthread that one could plug earphones into the charger port. Had my phone come with earphones I would have certainly utilized them.
You could call Apple and tell them that and that they should give you a new EarPods free of charge.

Yippee—got my battery replaced today @$29 + $.99/mo for expanding my cloud space + 4 hours at Apple store.
While waiting, went to local CVS and got HI photo calendars on clearance @$.10 apiece, plus lunch.
Hopefully with this new battery, the phone will last a bunch more years.
@HImom How many total trips did you have to make to the Apple Store? I made one to order a battery and need to make one soon to actually get it replaced. Just not sure if this case is universal.
It only took ONE trip. I made an appointment on Friday for this Sunday. I showed up at the appointment time and waited about 15 minutes to be seen. The guy tested my phone and had me back up my phone and come back 3 hours later to pick up my phone with a new battery. So one trip to drop the phone off and one trip to pick it up. They are out of a lot of the batteries but fortunately seem to have the 6s ones in stock. He says they are low in supplies on some of the other batteries nationally, not just the local store.
He said if they were out, he’d take my name and contact info and they would reserve my battery and I could return at my convenience to get it replaced. I was glad it was replaced in less than 4 hours.
Previously when I had a broken screen, they were able to replace it in less than an hour while we waited. Since they are slammed with so many needing/wanting replacement batteries and screens, there are hours of wait time. He said that 3 hours is pretty good and sometimes it’s 4.5 hours or longer.
I got an email YESTERDAY that the battery was in for my phone and I had to pick it up next Sunday. It was ordered weeks ago. Only problem is I now have a new phone (since the other one had a bad battery, bad speaker, and memory was getting full. So, not gonna pick it up, obviously.
Might be worth replacing the battery so you can have a backup phone or sell it with a good battery. $29 is a good price and I’m sure you can get a decent price for your phone after you remove your data. H loves having a backup phone—he has two androids.
