We have one of the first stainless Viking refrigerators made - it’s almost 20 years old now and we’ve never had a problem…same experience with the Viking wine cooler which we purchased at the same time. The SubZero in my basement has had chronic problems, and we’re not using it right now because it doesn’t get cool enough for most foods.

On our second Bosch dishwasher and we have had a variety of problems - the current one is 7 years old and not great…and we really baby it. We will replace it when it conks out, which will be anytime now - in fact, I hope it makes it through the holidays. We have the Apexx model with the LED controls inside the door. I noticed that the newer model has a stainless touch control panel, and I wonder if that will make control module more reliable?

The cheaper brands use cheap looking stainless on the front panel…something I can’t stand looking at. My sister just got a Sears Kenmore stainless stove and the metal is lightweight and the finish is cheap looking. The Bosch looks like it’s quality even if it’s not. Lol. Sigh. Does anyone have experience with Miele?

Gourmetmom, we have four Miele dishwashers. Two in our kitchen here and two in the kitchen of our home down south. Have never had a problem with any of them. The ones down south are 12 years old, the ones here only 3. I like them a lot, especially with the top tray for silverware/cutlery. They are very quiet and they clean well.

I’ve heard good things about Miele on Kitchen Web. I have a newish 800 series Bosch and it is my best DW, yet.

I have two Miele dishwashers. One in a pantry–other in the kitchen. Both are 12 years old. The one in the pantry, which gets less wear and tear, gives me problems. The one in the kitchen–no problems. The top tray for the silverware is my favorite feature.

I have a 13 year old Miele which until very recently has been problem free. I would purchase another one when this one finally goes. @Bromfield2 - what problems are you having with your Miele? Mine has been flashing the intake/drain light about every 5 cycles or so. We’ve cleaned all the filters and replaced a cracked piece and things have gotten a bit better. I spoke at length with Miele support and they suggested using only 1 Tbsp of powdered detergent (we have a whole house water softening system in place).

I have a Miele DW that I absolutely love. Never had a dirty dish coming out of it! The one problem we had with it happened early and was self-inflicted and easily fixable; their fabulous customer service sent us a part quickly. It took Mr B a few minutes to pop the DW out and replace the part.

This problem would NOT have happened if I had not decided to wash dishes by hand since there were only two of us in the house. A friend shamed me into “saving water”. The rep told us that several months of no use during dry, hot weather caused some sort of a thingamajig to dry out and not work properly. Now I use the DW every day - no problems.

Another brand I would seriously consider is Asco. Quiet, reliable, and does a fantastic job (we had them in the kitchens at work). Both Asco and Miele make lab glassware washers. They know this business of clean dishes like no one else!

Dietz–that is exactly the problem I’m having.

I will look at Miele - most likely in the next week or so. I had an Asko clothes washer and dryer and they were, hands down, the worst appliances I’ve ever owned.
