Counsellors in my country’s schools aren’t familiar with CommonApp. Mine didn’t even know about it before I asked him to help me out. My school’s counsellor who is a Biology Professor also happens to be my home tutor. As my counsellor’s technical skills are limited to Microsoft Word and Facebook, he needed my full assistance to open his CA account and submit my evaluation which he did with my PC.
Would that be a problem?
Probably not. Colleges won’t know if you are sharing a computer with your counselor or not. Is it seeing your recommendation that concerns you? If you checked off that the counselor can send it without you seeing it, but the counselor shares it with you by his choice (as in when you helped him upload it), that’s fine. Is there a possibility of you being able to change something he wrote? That would be an issue, but hopefully when you helped him set up the account to submit it, he did not share his password with you. Hope this helps.
Well if that isn’t a clear-cut conflict of interest and breach of even the most basic academic ethics, I don’t know what is–the person responsible for your SSR is on your family’s direct payroll? Am I misunderstanding? Please tell me I’m misunderstanding.
