your grades and ssats arent bad either, plus your essays were good.

I won’t get in anywhere. I am positive of that…

(no one make me feel better by saying I will get it because I won’t and don’t say I have good stats, because I don’t)

Quit mopping lol. It’s depressing. We’re all nervous and most of us aren’t shoo-ins and are as likely to get in as you.

I may get in to a school but I won’t get as much financial aid as I need. If I don’t get like 99% financial aid or more, my parents won’t let me go. Then I would have to spend the small amount I have in savings or find a summer job.

Question: Do any of these schools have like jobs on campus for students to earn a few extra bucks?

lol blueraven r u talking to me or 2010

I think he meant me.

blue is a girl
…at least that’s what she told me

2010:why did you apply to any schools then? Like that’s wasting your parents money and time if you don’t feel you aren’t going to get in. And if you are just saying that for sympathy, don’t.

Don’t mean to sound mean but yeah

and 212:stop worrying…you’ll get into at least one school. Stop asking if you have a chance because from what I can tell your awesome :)

hah a7x i seriosuly love u, i hope we end up at the same school. i love how u dont beat around the bush. lol im not asking for sympathy when ik my grades r gonna screw me over

Sorry blue, I meant to say she.

and a7x: I applied to the schools I applied to because they were the ones that I liked the most. I didn’t look at acceptance rates or average SSAT until my applications were in. And I payed for all my application fees, SSAT cost, and got my interview clothes at a salvation army. I am not looking for sympathy, I am just stating what is I am thinking in my head. When I said I don’t think I am going to get in anywhere, I kind of meant it will be extremely difficult to get in with full fin aid but I still have a small chance. Just hoping now.

212: you welcome :)…and that would be cool if we did…I’m pretty sure we have the same top schools anyway…

2010 to be honest- sint it brash and somewhat foolish to apply without closely researching the school. plus living close to andover would give u somewhat background of boarding schools. also regarding ssat nd app fees u can get them waived.

Living close to andover doesn’t have any effect on my knowledge of boarding schools. And I really don’t live that close to it, like a half hour away. I live closer to exeter than andover, so I hear more about Exeter. Even the amount I hear about exeter isn’t much. Only a few people at my school even know what a boarding school is. I researched the schools but I didn’t look closely into statistics such as endowment, acceptance rates, and average scores. I was looking more at the overall atmosphere of the schools and if they had good financial aid. And for fee waivers, I tryed to get one at one of the schools but you had to make under a certain amount and my parents were over that amount so I didn’t get any because I assumed the other schools had a similar policy.

So if you went to Exeter or Andover, would you be a day student?

day student at andover because of their financial aid policy but boarding at exeter

Policy for Those Applying for Financial Aid from Cities/Towns within our Day Student Boundaries:

As you are aware, students from certain cities/towns are able to choose whether to apply to Phillips Academy as day students or as boarding students. Your choice is a one-time-only option that must be made when the application is submitted to the admission office.

However, if you reside in a nearby city/town and are also applying for financial aid, please understand that your financial aid award will be predicated on the day student tuition and will not include the additional cost associated with being a boarding student. You are, of course, welcome to apply as a boarding student, but your family will be responsible for the additional tuition necessary for you to live on campus if you are admitted and choose to enroll at Phillips Academy.

just checked: all my stuff is in! no more stress XD

rad, do you know if something comes up as “Received feb. xx”, does that mean thats when the school filed it, or thats when they actually received it? because if the latter is the case 5 out 6 of applications will be late. :(

and tom’s thread about this year’s super-selectivity already got me down… :'(

what do you mean filed/received? if they received it then they would file it…

That probably means when they processed it. I sent my applications in on time and they weren’t processed for two weeks.

thanks fimend… the same thing happened to me.

rad, i sent my stuff to deerfield in before the deadline and it didn’t show up as “received” until a couple of weeks ago. so, technically i think they can get your app materials on/before the deadline, but not put in into the system as “received” until much later. does that make sense? sorry, sometimes i make things seem more complicated than they actually are.
