Applicants of 2010

yeah its pretty nuts but i hate though

Dive: that could make you all the more special  well, if you want to go to an ivy of course…I don’t even know what country you live in…I’m guessing Antarctica? I wish I could come and see your pet polar bear… :(

Does anyone know when I may hear back from my waitlisted school? Will they contact me if there are no spots, or will they only contact me if I get in?

probably only if you get in?

Yeah, you should contact them like right now…

Are you sure about those stats swissbrit? They don’t sound right to me…

No Blue, I am not sure, I did read that our HS does send over 10% to the Ivies and that the class size is around 500, so both those stats are true but when I said that the Ivy rate fluctuates well thats my guess since a public school class can be smarter/ dumber from year to year…

This year is amazing! Havard acceptance rate in China is around 0.1%. Two got in from my school. And two Yale, several Vassar, Wellesley, Dartmouth, etc.

But I heard there’s a crazy guy from Beijing who was admitted to HYP+UPenn+Columbia all with full aid. LOL it’s just crazy. Those schools admit 5-10/over several thousand applicants.

You should not complain about your school, Gonnastop. THAT IS AWESOME! You’re enjoying so much better opportunities than I am. Sadly, in the 350-mile radius of the town I live in, as far as I know, in our education history (yup!) there’s only one guy who got into Princeton.

BTW, haven’t been on CC for a little while. Gotta spend the next 2 hours or so catching up with what you guys are saying :D.
SSRS SSRS SSRS SSRS SSRS SSRS SSRS

Wow, that’s pretty amazing, especially since you guys are in China…

ikr I mean don’t you guys go to any “good” chinese colleges ?

Yeah we do.

We have a French class, a Japanese class, a German class and 7 English classes.
Most people learning French go to Insa Univ or Paris Institute of Politics and Economics(or something like that). Most French leaders graduated from these two schools.
The Japanese class—I don’t remember.
The German class—don’t remember, either.

The English classes:
Around 340 graduates
About 150 go abroad. 90% go to American colleges. 10(or 12) Ivies this year, all with full aid.
About 150 are admitted to top Chinese universities. Twenty go to Beijing U and Tsinghua U(it’s like the Chinese HYP). Other univs are all ranked top 30.

About 40 take the GaoKao exam. One or two get admitted to the two Univs mentioned above.

Chinese high school graduates need to take a standardized test in June and the scores are the only thing colleges look at.

There are exceptions. Amazing kids, for example, top 30 at my school or national/international Olympiad finalists (top 20) get the opportunity to take a special test and do interviews at several superb colleges(the Chinese Ivy League maybe). It’s highly selective but the admitted students don’t have to take the one-time-opportunity test.

All great Univs in China are public. This means that those 2 top Schools in Beijing admit more Beijing kids. And it’s significantly harder for people from my province, which is the most populous and offers the best education, to get in.

My school is not in Beijing or Shanghai.

We have an acceptance rate of 6% for middle school. (it’s easier for middle schoolers to get into the high school)

6. We have 3 years of middle school and another 3 of high school in China.

It’s confusing…sorry! My English is not that good!!!

Plus—my school is FREEEEEEEEEEE

Woahh confusing lol well I’m kind of banking on going to Oxbridge or LSE in englans. They have a smaller applicant pool than HYP but the applicant pool is more qualified in my oppinion.

Nice to see you again(finally), assign!!

We have several to Oxbridge/LSE. I know a girl who didn’t get her visa to America and consequently went to LSE instead of Havard.

Could you tell me which part? I can edit it…

Woah I mean LSE is easily on Par with Harvards Economics program but it doesn’t have the prestige, that must have been a bummer lol…

I thought tsinghua was a brand of beer? lol…
