Application essays and mid-year updates

So… I made a mistake with my Common Application. I kept the short answer essay from an earlier draft by accident, so my short answer and personal essays have the same topic (writing). Should I send a new short answer essay with my mid-year report, saying something like, “I thought you might want this since my short answer essay was also about writing”? Or would that be weird?

Also, should I send updates about things like nominations for the Presidential Scholars Program and a scholarship, and Academic Decathlon regional competition results?

Thanks!

I suggest you update your application with any new information, but as for mistakes made on the common application, I think you have to let go of it. That’s just my opinion of course, and hope that your mistake could be a learning curve for someone else. ALWAYS print off the entire application and double check that it is how you would like it to be.

Yeah, when I read about application mistakes, I always thought, “That’ll never happen to me.” But it did! XD
