I am confused about the following things.

What is personal statement? What is its length?

What is the length of an application essay?

What is the length of a teacher recommendation letter?

Are supplemental letters of recommendation those that are written by people who know the student well? What is the length of those letters?

Above all those essays, discussed above are there anything else to write?

How many essays can i submit along with the Common App?

Are there any essays that cannot be sent via the common app? If so, how to submit other essays that cannot be sent via the Common App?

If you know the answer for at least one of the above questions, please answer.

Thanks in advance.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong please:

A personal statement is normally for graduate school applicants. It gives them a chance to write about how their experiences and education make them a good candidate for getting a Master’s or PhD in a subject. It is normally has a 500-1000 word limit or a one- to two-page limit.

Application essay prompts will normally tell you how long to make the essays, but they can be any length up to 1000 words, with the most common length being 500 words.

Teacher recommendation letters should be maximum two pages with one page being the recommended length (a few well-developed paragraphs will suffice, I think).

Usually, supplemental letters will be written by another teacher, but they can also be written by bosses or any adult that knows you well. Avoid asking peers or family members. The length is the same as the teacher recommendation letters.

There might be some short-answer questions depending on the college. There are also sections on the Common App for you to explain any disciplinary violations and to provide additional information (such as explaining a gap in your education, extra qualifications, etc.)

You submit the Common App essays and any supplementary essays specific colleges ask for. Don’t submit essays on top of those unless your colleges give you the liberty to do so.

You should be able to submit all of your essays to the Common App for the colleges that use the Common App. Some colleges have their own applications that can be submitted online to another site or by mail.
