I attend a failry large public high school in the Southwest. Each year, our school places 1 to 2 people in the Ivies. Given the small classes admitted to the Ivies, do you think it is a disadvantage to apply RD to an Ivy that has already accepted an ED applicant from my school? Would an Ivy take more than one person from my school in the same year? Or should I focus my applications on those Ivies that haven't yet taken anyone from my school?

I know the Ivies don't have quotas but since regional counselors screen the applications, it seems logical to me that once he or she saw another one from my school, they would naturally keep going knowing that someone from my school is already there. Am I correct?

Thanks

No, you're not correct. The interviewers, etc. want to amass the best class they can, and if that means including several outstanding students from your small school, so be it.

Thanks, NSM. Here's my thought. There are many, many people out there will very good numbers, like say a 2200 SAT, great ECs, 4.5 GPAs, and a top 10% class rank. Some of those get into Ivies, some don't. Because there is no pattern that I see, I have to believe that we're somewhat fungible. A school could find 100 people with my stats and background. In a vacuum, they may choose me. But if someone from my school is already there, it makes sense to me that they would pick someone else with similar stats just to diversify their class.
