Application Supplements, "Other"?

I plan to apply to Pitt as soon as the option to apply for the Fall 2016 term opens up. I was looking through the supplemental information, and I already intend on sending personal essays and letters of recommendation. The other options are for art portfolios, musical recordings, or “other.” I was wondering what “other” supplements I could send as well?

Could I send previous academic work (such as a lab report or a research paper), an extensive resume of my extracurricular experience, or even a theatre supplement (such as two contrasting monologues instead of a portfolio of artistic work)?

The supplemental information that is most useful to our Admissions Committee is the short answer responses. You are welcome to send more materials, but it is not necessary.

The best thing is to send a Resume of activities- highlighting major events or leadership. It helps to show that you’re well rounded and makes you unique (for example, I did a lot of Band, Theater, and Latin in high school which is almost a 180 from the fact that I was applying into the Engineering school).

@AwesomeOpossum I’ve done a lot of theatre so far in high school: I’ve acted in plays, worked backstage, and I have two leadership positions. Would it be a good idea to include a resume of my theatre experience?

Definitely! Any clubs or activities- honor societies, volunteering, music lessons- to show that you are well rounded and have interests and likes.

@dudefromnowhere I’m not sure if the questions change from year to year for Pitt, because it’s not part of the Common App. The Common App questions for Fall 2016, though, have been released!

Thanks @hail2pitt, got confused when the application had different questions (from 2015). I am guessing that has not been updated yet, also the term available is Fall 2015 or Spring 2016

@dudefromnowhere, The application itself is not updated. We will open the new application in mid-August.
