<pre><code> I’m certain that I want to go to University of Texas and I will do anything I have to to get there. Here is my life experience on how I change as an man, the training I have done to be efficient at my job, and what i’m going to do to become a UT student, I will give it my all to do the best I can achieve my goal in supporting my son and I that’s my goal.
One thing I have done that has really helped me in my ability to reach my goal would be joining the Marines. Throughout my Marine Corps career, I have taken more difficult courses, and training in an effort to learn as much as I can about my job as an Infantry man. Most of my classes are rifle training, and combat lifesaver classes and more training that bettered me as a Infantry man. These classes had required a lot of hard work for me to be successful by late night studying, constantly doing weapons training over and over, and training such as applying tourniquets on body parts to make sure it was as accurate as possible. While learning far more than my other peers that came in with me, I was able to become a team leader right after my first deployment. I had another opportunity to show how efficient I can be my leading 3 guys under me by training, controlling the team while conducting live fire and being a mentor to them as well. Taking these opportunities I was able to prove not only myself, but my platoon Sargent that I was here for one reason and that was to do the best I can at my job, and the respect I deserved to lead these Marine's in combat if needed. This shows proof of my dedication to my job and me as a person. The accomplishment I am most proud of is being a team leader on my second Deployment and having all my Marines coming back to their family. My Leadership holds me to a higher standard of excellence that I use as motivation to continue striving for my ultimate goal of having a positive impact on my Marine Corps career.
All my discipline and training I have is going to aid me in pursuing my goal. My age and life experience from traveling the world, seeing different cultures and receiving combat has taught me valuable, life-long lessons in leadership and life itself. These assets I will use to complete my education at the University of Texas, by taking everything seriously at what I do to get the best grade I can achieve. Seeing the way third world country's live made me want to do more to help out not only my community as a United States citizens but there as well. I have seen first-hand the impact one person can make in another's life, my deployment to Afghanistan saw how giving the little kids water, candy, bread and make a big impact on how they treat military member. Letting them know we are the good guys and we will do anything we can to help them out. They really enjoy our company I think and I love to do what I can to help them out. It definitely touched my heart seeing the kids smile and not scared to walk outside or be afraid that the Taliban going to kidnap them. It showed me how fortunate I am to be able to help others, and how my state of living conditions are. I have learned so many life lessons during deployment, and Marine Corps, helping me steer in the right direction to accomplish my future goals.
An important way of me reaching my future goal is the dedication and scarifies of my time. I know it's going to be a challenger for me to get used to the civilian world, but with my pride and stride to learn I know It can be done. I'm not just doing this for myself, but for my son as well. Being a single parent will not distract me from my duties as a student nor will it affect my grades or focus in class. I feel more confident as I get closer to my EAS “End of Active Services” date knowing what I have to do to have a better future for my son and I. I take pride in becoming a student at the University of Texas I will not disappoint the alumni nor the future student of the amazing origination, You will not regret the choice of selecting me as a student in your university.
