Applied for Nursing: Chances of getting into it?

I originally applied to Duquesne a few months ago as psycholoy/pre-med thinking I wanted to go to medical school, be a doctor, etc. I got in. However, after long thought, I wanted to go in a different direction, still in the health field. I've made a final decision on nursing. So I'm trying to switch my major to nursing at Duquesne. I have tried to find as much information about the admissions as possible but I can't find much about the total requirements. The website says upper 2/5ths in rank but my school doesn't rank and they don't specify required test scores. They just say acceptable scores that the university adheres to and I know the ACT score to get into most programs is a 22 as told to me by an admissions director but I'm not sure about nursing and that's my main concern. The required gpa into the nursing program is a 3.0 though. Here are my stats:

GPA= 4.1
ACT=22 (bad I know)
Over 127+ hours in community service and I'm still working.

What are my chances of Duquesne admitting me into the program? How difficult (or picky) are they about admitting students into the nursing major?

I don't know about your chances, but I think you should talk to an admissions counselor and be absolutely certain of how to change your choice of major. Can you just declare your change? Probably not. Do you have to re-apply to nursing? Does nursing even have room at this point? If not, can you apply for a transfer during freshman year?

I know some one who applied to Penn State in economics or math or something like that and soon afterwards decided to major in accounting. Somehow, the change of major declaration caused the application to be "overlooked" or "lost". Don't let this happen to you.

I got in. :)
But thank you!!

Thank you very much!

@speechless06 how long after you declared a major change did you hear back, I did the same thing and am currently waiting. Thanks!

About 8-9 days after. VERY quick response. I was so surprised!
Good luck, I hope you get in!! :) What major did you change to? It also might depend on that as well.

Athletic training, good to know its a quick response duquesne is my first choice

Yeah they have been very quick with me both times: when I first applied and when I changed my major. So you should hear back very soon! Good luck!
