Apply for more than 1 major?

As I begin to help my son w/his college lists I am wondering if one can apply to 2 different programs at a CSU? For example can u apply to nursing as a first choice and kinesiology as a second choice at Cal State Fullerton? Oh and I know how hard it is to get into nursing in any program-been begging him to do 2 years at a community college and get some medical experience but he would like to go to a 4 year school

Most Cal States do not consider alternate majors but some will consider them. CSU Fullerton has admitted some students that originally applied for Nursing into their alternate major.

Direct admit Nursing programs at the Cal states which are Fullerton, San Diego State and San Marcos are highly competitive and you are looking at 5% or less admit rates. The rest of the CSU’s that offer the 2+2 programs may have slightly higher admit rates but they are still impacted.

The UC’s (UCI and UCLA) are even more competitive with UCI admit rate of 1.2% and UCLA’s at 0.9%.

CC to UC Transfers for Nursing admits is 2.0% for UCI and 7.9% for UCLA.

CC to CSU Transfers for Nursing admits are usually higher but still impacted. I do not have any specific data unfortunately.
