Okay, I’m an idiot for applying this late in my senior year. I cannot stress this enough. Also, I have no clue which forum to post this question, so I’m posting it here if that is alright.

Ringling college’s prirority deadline is March 1st. But common app says the deadline is july 11, 2011. Does it affect my chances on getting in if I apply after the prirority deadline?

Another question is that if I can send my application to the school first and then later send in my portfolio? Or do I have to send both of them in at the same time?

At this point you need to forget about the dates that have passed, if they are still accepting applications and you are interested then apply, if the chances are less then that is that, there is still a chance - stop beating yourself up over what is past just get your application and portfolio together ASAP and before the final date. And yes, application and portfolio go separately and they can be days apart but I don’t think a procrastination option is healthy for you at this point. You can do it!! You’ll never have the perfect portfolio - just let it fly, don’t let yourself say just one more new piece - times up for that. If you have to make a schedule for yourself for the remainder of the month do so and keep to it - personally I like challenging myself like this, pressure can be very productive! Tell yourself the challenge is on and do it!!!
I love senior year study hall.

Priority deadline is just that, it gives you priority. However, remember that even if they fill all their spots using priority apps (which they may not) but also not everyone who is accepted will go there. It appears that they have a rolling admissions, so the sooner you apply the better but missing the priority deadline doesn’t mean you won’t get in.

Goodschoolhopefully gave you great advice, and it must be nice coming from someone your age!

Yes, Ringling has rolling admissions except for the Computer Animation and Game Art & Design majors, for which the application deadline has passed. The 3/1 priority deadline is for scholarships and is also the financial aid priority deadline, so if you/your parents have not completed your FAFSA get that in before March 1st, even if you have to estimate at this point. It really is not that difficult to do, so if you want/need aid be sure to meet the 3/1 deadline! In addition, you can get all kinds of advice from students and admissions by going to the Ringling website, click on “apply”, and then “message board”; you will see a facebook page for 2011 applicants who share many of your questions. Good luck!

I’m applying for the Illustration major, in case you’re curious.
I just sent in my FAFSA application just yesterday - the only thing I don’t think I’ll make it in time is sending the application for the college by the priority deadline… So I guess I’ll opt towards the regular deadline. Have no choice at this point
Really? How odd I missed the message board link, after visting the site a couple of times. I’ll check it out, thank you!

Goodschoolhopefully, thank you so much for the advice. Of course I shouldn’t be so hard on myself, there may still be a chance after all. Now, I just need to finishing setting up that portfolio.

rinkai - good luck. Where else are you applying? Have you gotten other applications in? I’m a prospective illustration major as well.
