Applying: Are some majors easier to get accepted to?

I am dead set on getting into NYU. I have 2 strong interests that I plan on studying, journalism and art history. I have plenty of national awards and accolades for journalism, but not much experience as far as art history goes.

So my question is, would I have a better chance at getting into NYU if I applied as an art history major, as I assume that there are less art history applicants than journalism applicants. That said, I dont have much experience in art history, but rather in journalism as I said before.

For the record, I plan on double majoring in both, but I think I'm going to just put down one of them when I apply.

ALSO: this is just a random question, but is NYU mire likely to accept men since they have a 6:4 female to male ratio. Wouldnt they want more men? Just a thought...

There are so many things wrong with your logic right now.

First of all, getting into college can't be broken down into a basic formula.

Second of all, you seem like you're hell bent on NYU just because it's NYU and you don't care what you study because you're willing to compromise on your major IF applying to one or the other gives you a better chance of getting accepted (which in most cases, it won't).

If you don't have the credentials for NYU you're just not going to get accepted to NYU. Simple as that.

For your own sake, go to a school that is going to give you the best exposure for what you want to study. Don't just put a random ass area of study down to better your chances of getting in.

And no, being male really won't help you as much as you think it will.

Your major can have some impact if it means applying to different schools at NYU. However, since both art history and journalism are both CAS, your application will be reviewed by the same admissions rep.

If you have more experience in journalism, apply for journalism. If you apply for art history and have no background in it, they'll look at you like "*** are you doing? REJECT!"

And no, being male doesn't help.
