Applying as a mature student

Hello everyone…i’ve been looking at some universities website and see diferent application requisites for mature(24 or older) students…i’m 24…i’ve been told that it is considerabily easier if you apply as a mature student in most schools…any comments about that?

buuummmpp

anyone?

Columbia U. School of General Studies (specifically for older students)

A Columbia degree with a 38% acceptance rate.

thanks a lot…good to know…any more info?

bummmmmppppp

I think Wellesley has a program for mature and non-traditional students.

what about schools like USC, UCLA, Northwestern, NYU?

You may want to focus on programs specifically designed for mature students. A lot of colleges and universities now offer specialized adult programs. Admissions is easier and aid is more focused on the adults. As an adult student myself, finding scholarships becomes much more difficult since most are specifically designed for high schoolers.

I intend to go to film school and as long as i know that is a not a special mature student program…i’m just curious about this mature student film…at NYU USC and UCLA i couldn’t find any information as for admission for mature students

I would recommend contacting the admissions offices and discussing your situation personally. Typically, websites are designed towards the traditional college applicant.

Thanks for the heads up, Twittythebird. I’m looking at Columbia myself and am am a mature student. I was looking at their GS school. My problem will be financial aid…
