Applying for Fafsa independent 25yo and no income only SSI

Please help I don’t know if all my dreams of Nursing are over cause I’m unsure if I will be able to qualify for fafsa again. I went for CMA graduated 2013 in debt for 15,000 I’m not on default on both accounts just a forbearance which only lets me postpone my payments till the summer. I’m unsure if I will still qualify for fafsa? Also since I’m 25 now I’m considered independent and only get SSI for income how can I get fafsa ? Is it still possible? Thank you

FAFSA is a form (Free Application For…) so you don’t get FAFSA, you fill it out to get aid.

You may be eligible for Pell Grant still, you can get it for 12 semesters. Use it wisely.

You may be eligible for further student loans, remembering that there is an annual cap. You need to read and understand how Pell and Loans work. Use the Federal Aid pages, they are pretty good.

In either case you will have to be enrolled with enough credits to qualify. You can also see your financial aid office at the college you intend.

How much does the nursing school cost per year?

You are unemployed now and receiving SSI?

What is CMA and why aren’t you working?

May I ask what the nature of your disability is? You can PM me if you’d like. I am an NP and worked as an LPN and an RN so I know what the rigors are of both schooling and the career are.

What is a CMA?

CMA = Certified Medical Assistant, I think. CMA and CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) are 1-2 year programs.
