Applying for no reason

I plan on applying to American here in the next month or so. However, I know for sure that I will not be going. It was one of my choices, but it’s just too expensive. However, I want to keep it in mind for grad school, so I thought I would just apply for the heck of it. Does anybody see anything wrong with this?

Yes. you might be taking the spot away from someone who really wants to go there.

Well, if I even get in, when I turn them down…that person who really wants to go will get off the waitlist

Either way. it doesn’t always work out like that.

It seems to me your acting rather selfish. If you apply, get in, and no for sure that you can’t go (you never know, AU gives great financial aid/scholarships), you are taking away a valuable spot for someone else (and it doesn’t necessarily mean someone off the waitlist will get in either). If you are interested in AU for grad school, then apply for grad school; getting in for undergrad won’t do anything for admission into grad school.

AU doesn’t have a waitlist. So if you get in you really will be taking a spot away from the person.

like ironjawedangel said though… AU really does give great financia aid to a lot of people, so if its just a money issue, I wouldn’t rule it out so quickly though… but if you really don’t even like the school, why wouldn’t you just wait to apply until grad school? Applying as an undergrad and not going wont give you an edge four years from now
