<p>my family earns about ~30,000/year, and both my parents have only had high school educations. however, i have a 2260 sat and 4.0 gpa. i am asian. would it be absolutely ridiculous for me to apply heop? i grew up with very little resources available to me (no piano lessons, no little league, my parents were young immigrants and had no clue about that stuff) and i believe that has played a strong factor in my life and can explain some of the deficiencies in my app.</p>
<p>I guess you didn’t read the requirements or you would see that you don’t meet the EDUCATIONALLY disadvantaged criteria.

<p>It’s my understanding that in order to be eligible for consideration for HEOP, your grades and/or your test scores neeed to be below the middle 50 percent of students accepted at a particular school. You can write or call the person in charge of HEOP at schools where you are applying for further information. In any case, I believe that the school will consider your application for regular admission if you don’t make the cut for HEOP. Most schools have a very limited number of HEOP seats, and want students who need the additional support (pre-freshman summer program and ongoing academic support) that HEOP provides.</p>

<p>i have no genius awards or science fair prizes or internships with senators. i am passionate about the elderly but that is completely uninteresting. i am employed at a care home. i also volunteer at 2 senior recreational centers, one being the one i am employed at, as well as a hospital.</p>
