I currently go to a different college but realized it isn’t for me, so I’m hoping to transfer to UHManoa. However, after a month of debating whether or not I should even transfer I finally decided yesterday to apply; but found out the deadline to apply was March 1st. It says they do take late applications, but it could take up to the day before school even starts to find out. Has anyone done the late application? Does it really take that long? Should I try to or just wait for the spring semester application to come out?
Last year, my friend’s daughter applied to UH after the deadline and was accepted. She did not originally apply because she was intending to go out of state but her financial situation changed. Of course it’s just one case, but it may be possible.
Hey! Im a late applicant as well but I’m actually a first-year undergrad applicant and I applied the 28th of March. I was in Hawaii last week, so I visited the campus and spoke with an admissions counselor. She said I should expect a decision in 4-8 weeks, but she said 4 weeks is pretty fast, and that 6 weeks is plausible and that’s usually when late applicants receive a decision. All decisions are by MAIL by the way. She also used to work for the residence halls/campus housing office and she said there is usually always openings in the halls. You may not get all your desired classes, but she also said it is easy to get off waitlists for classes. She also said they’re continually enrolling until first semester, and I should expect to hear much earlier than that. I say apply, but do it RIGHT AWAY. She insinuated that it would be easy to get in, since she did say almost all students that apply get in. Just make sure you meet the transfer requirements. Other than that, I think you should apply! The chances of anyone getting in are pretty high, and the counselor also says they don’t have to meet quotas or anything so yeah I think it’s worth a shot. She encouraged me to wait for my decision, so I am.
