Applying to,a consortium

When you apply to a college that’s a member of a consortium (Claremont Mckenn for example), does that mean you’ve applied to every school in the consortium?

@barbthewarrior, you would apply to each of the Claremont colleges separately, which makes sense, since each has a distinct focus and student fit.

Thanks! That confirms what I thought, but wondered.

@barbthewarrior It means you have access to each of the other schools without having to apply to all of them, once accepted. For example, a female at Smith can take advantage of the food at UMass by taking a class there as part of the fivecolleges.edu. Likewise, a Pomona student can enroll in a Mudd course. You get accessibility at the neighboring schools as a member of one.

An exception is this year where covid is shutting shared physical access down. Amherst is creating a bubble where consortium members can only take them remotely since its students will shelter on campus this fall and not leave until Nov.
