Applying to Berkeley

What are my chances of getting into UC Berkeley?

I’m a pansexual African American female and my biological mother died this past July.

I’m an IB student, as of right now my grades are as follows:
HL Computer Science: 6
HL Physics: 4
HL Business Management: 6
SL Math: 3
SL English Literature: 5
SL Spanish: 5

My ACT score is a 25
Super scored, it is a 27

My extracurriculars include:
A Capella (2 years)
Varsity Basketball (5 years)
Varsity Volleyball (4 years)
Model UN (3 years)
HS Student Ambassador (4 years)
Member of the LGBTQ society (2 years)
Leader of a primary school math tutoring club (4 years)
Member of Jack and Jill of America (Leadership organization for African American children) (~11 years)

UCB does not consider race/ethnicity in their admission decisions. Your ACT score is well below the 25th percentile of 29 and the UC’s do not superscore. If you are OOS/International then the required stats are even higher.

Consider UCB a High Reach school unless you are being recruited for a sport.

You need to do some Research on some realistic target schools. Here is the Freshman profile for UCB if interested.

I took the PSAT and got 1160, would it be any help for me to take the SAT?

You might be considered if you went to a CA high school that has been underrepresented in the past at Berkeley. Short of that it will be tough to get in.

Here is some more statistical data for UCB. An SAT score in the range of your PSAT is again well below the 25th percentile for 2018 admits

2018 UC capped weighted GPA averages:
UCB: 4.23

2018 Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.80-4.19 capped weighted and not major specific:
UCB: 10%

2018 Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 4.20 or above capped weighted and not major specific:
UCB: 37%

2018 Data:
25th - 75th percentiles for SAT:

UCB: 1360-1540

Are you a California resident? If so, then there is always that slight possibility of admission and FA help in costs. If not, you will be looking a little to no financial aid and will be expected to pay $65K/year.
