Applying to college after Gap Years?

Hi,

How much more difficult is it to apply to colleges (I’m applying for NYU CAS in particular) is it to gain entry into college after taking years off between completing high school and degree?

I’m a US citizen but finished high school November 2010 and would apply for 2013 entry later this year, does that it very difficult for entry?

Hope someone can help,

Thanks!

Depends on what you were doing since you graduated. As for the actual application process, the primary difficulty is likely to be getting letters of rec from teachers and your guidance counselor. This is one where you might want to contact the admissions offices at schools and ask if they might take a recommendation from someone who can speak to your current achievements.

I had a few friends who enlisted in the military a couple years and then applied to college. What have you been doing with your time off?
