Does anyone have experience with this? I’m currently a sophomore in high school and am hoping to apply to GW during my junior Year. I have a 4.5 Weighted and 3.89 UW GPA. 34 ACT and will have taken 6 AP’s by Junior year. I’m really interested in GW’s SMPA Program but I would be fine with studying in their Poli Sci department for the first year. IMO I have some fantastic ECs despite being a sophomore but I can’t find any information on applying as a Junior. What would my chances be if I applied ED I with an interview? Thanks!

My daughter successfully did this last year and is a freshman there now. She talked with her school the summer before Junior Year to get them on board - you will really need your school’s support, or at least the help of the college counselor. My daughter’s counselor called his GW admissions contact to let them know a Junior was going to be applying, so GW knew her app was coming. Then, she submitted some SAT scores she took in Sept of her Junior year. She did EDII, not EDI, after much thinking, because then at least GW would have first semester Junior year grades to consider. I strongly suggest you do EDII, not EDI. We did actually fly her out there for an interview so the school could see she was serious and could make sure she did not seem too young to enroll. She was admitted EDII over seniors at her school who were turned down, so GW took an honest look at her, despite her Junior status. Her stats were similar to yours, I think: 2200 SAT and about 4.7 weighted GPA, great essays and average ECs. Please message me if you want more info.

Because it is an urban campus and lacks some of the supervision students can find at a more traditional campus, it would be important to demonstrate you have the maturity to be admitted early.
