Applying to in-state schools

Do in-state students have advantages towards applying to in-state school besides tuition costs? Will living in California increase my chance of being accepted to a UC or CSU?

Most certainly it increases your chances. However, the effect is less than it used to be. OOS generally have an SAT score 100 points higher and a GPA around 0.1 above that of in-state acceptees.
