I know the Ivy League converse frequently about students who applied to multiple Ivy leagues. So would only applying to one Ivy RD help your chances because that one Ivy will know you actually like them for who they are instead of trying to chase prestige?
Like if I only applied to one Ivy RD, would my chances in any way increase if that was the only one?
I would only do this if you’re really confident about your chances and have shown a lot of other demonstrated interest in that one Ivy. Personally I think it’s unlikely to help you too much, and if there’s another Ivy you also like a lot, I would think it would be better to apply there as well since you want to maximize your odds of finding a school that’s a good fit for you, and those schools are incredibly selective.
If you are really passionate about that college, then yes, it will help your chances. Make sure to mention that you’re only applying to one Ivy somewhere on your application.
Each application is reviewed independently. Applying to just one Ivy does not change your odds to get into that particular school. The only potential advantage is that you will give yourself more time to spend on the supplement for that school.
No, applying to one ivy and mentioning its your only “ivy” will not enhance your odds. However, if your first choice school happens to be an ivy, and you apply to it early, as in ED or SCEA, yes your odds are greatly enhanced, even though the school may say your odds of admission are the same as RD.
