Applying to Oxford - from Indonesia

Dear All

I’m currently first year student at University of Indonesia, and intending to apply to 3-year bachelor degree (in Physics) at Oxford 2015. I’m intending to apply through SAT.
I have taken SAT subject tests ( math L2 730, and Phys 790 ) , and intending to take ACT at Sept, 25th and SAT Chemistry at Oct 11th.

The result of SAT Chemistry will be out at Oct 30th, but the deadline of UCAS is Oct 15th. Will they accept my result?

Also, I’m planning to take TOEFL test at feb 2015, while the deadline is at Oct 15th. Is that allowed? Will they accept it?

I’m also intending to get full scholarship. I’ve searched at internet, and I got “Reach Oxford” scholarship. Is it hard to get that? what should i do to get that scholarship?

Thank you

People in the US won’t be familiar with the Reach scholarships (US citizens are not eligible).

Is it hard to get a full scholarship to Oxford? well, yes. Students from more than 150 countries compete for the Reach scholarships.

From the website:

*This scheme is only suitable for candidates of the highest academic ability who have outstanding examination results. However, financial need and social commitment are also major criteria for selection. Applicants should be intending to return to their country of ordinary residence following their studies. Priority will be given to students who have not studied at undergraduate level before.

You must make an application to the University through UCAS by 15 October and be successful in gaining a place. You will then need to complete a separate scholarship application form and arrange for two references to be submitted on your behalf. Please note that we cannot consider applications from candidates who have not been offered a place at Oxford.*.

Your chemistry SAT date is not a problem- any offer would be conditional on the actual score. But- the only person that I have ever heard of getting into Oxford with just the SAT and 3 SAT subject tests absolutely nailed the aptitude test and then the interview. Have you had a look at the Physics Aptitude Test (PAT) ?

The TOEFL deadline is in July of your entry year, so a February test date is not a problem.

Thank you.
I have seen PAT’s sample questions on the website.
