Recent events at my school have me truly considering transferring from my current university (Loyola Maryland) to a large state school, my main focus being Pitt.

I have just finished my Freshman year here. The reason for my transfer is the fact that my Latin teacher accused me of plagiarizing a translation. Even after being found not guilty by the schools honor council apparently the teacher still has the right to fail me at their discretion which the prof did indeed do. My personal feeling that that they did this because of their own personal vendetta against me. My biggest fear being that if this prof can do this so can any other teacher that has something against me.

I am a declared bio-psych major but intend on either sticking this out one more semester to try and find greater academic success within this major or switch to a double econ/psych major.

My major concern is the F being on my transcript. If i stay here and retake the course and pass the F is rescinded from my transcript and that grade is averaged with my new grade for the class. Only problem is this teacher is the only one that instructs this latin course.

My first semester i had a 2.9 gpa (my school requires a core)

Writting: A
Latin: A-
Bio - C
Bio Lab - B+ (1 credit)
Chem - W
Chem Lab - W

total credit - 11

this semester

Latin - F
Bio - C (or C-)
Bio Lab - D
Psych - A
Calc - A
Western Civ - A

total credit - 13

i think i will be finishing with a 2.4 or 2.5 cumulative GPA

i dont think i would be able to apply and get into Pitt with this gpa lol.

Registered Classes for next semester

Bio and Lab (4 cr. total)
US history after Civil War (3)
Abnormal Psych (3)
Psych Research Methods and lab (4 Total)
Latin (3)

17 total credits.

this leaves me with a couple options

-Take next semester with bio and no latin, replacing latin with econ. If i do well in econ and the rest of my classes it will show that i am capable of doing well in high standing institution. But i keep the F on my transcript.

-Take Next semester as is. F will be removed for latin. But it will not show my ability in economics. But if i do well in biology it can show that i have the ability to suceed in the major should i choose to stick with it.

-Drop bio and Latin replace them with econ and another class dedicated to econ. To do this i would need to be sure that bio is not in my future. The F would still be on my transcript. But if i do well it would show that i have very high ability in my intended new double major. Loyola has a top 40 business school.

-Drop out of this college and go to a local community. This would just get me out of this school, which is something i would like to do right now.

Which option do you all think would be the best? If I do indeed not take latin again to replace the F i will most certainly be including a letter documenting the events that lead to me failing the class. (the assignment in question was the last homework assignment of the semester)

When applying to schools as a freshmen I was accepted to Pitt on an almost full scholarship as i was here. My hs GPA was a 4.2. My ACT was a 32 with a 98 percentile on the science section.

Now if i do decide to apply, when do I do this? Would i apply early like in the summer or early semester with pending grades for that semester, do i apply at the end of the semester for fall 2010? If i do that, what do i do during the spring semester? Im a little confused as to how that all works.

Also, i am confused with how community colleges work. If i dropped out of here, i know that my transcript would follow me, but would i be considered a 'freshman" at a community college or would i be considered a sophomore? Are they considered like a “fresh start”? Again i know that my transcript from loyola would follow me.
