for example, history- Could an Asian Male with a not-perfect GPA Comparedto ur average Asian apply under “History” as intended major with only “proof” of interest in history is taking 3 AP Histories in HS
I feel like this is cheating… Not saying Ill do it; j know people who are doing that- are ao’s smart enough to realize this deceitfullness? Any ideas ?
Most top schools do not admit by major. They may be interested in what you demonstrate and describe your interests as but this is not going to be much of a factor for you. Students do change majors all the time and they don’t mind if you do.
If there is a formal difference in admission selectivity by major (or division), it is likely that there is an internal admission process to change into a more popular (relative to capacity) major (or division) after enrolling.
At most schools admissions officers don’t pay attention to major at they fully understand that once admitted a student is free to switch majors within the school/program to which he/she has been accepted. It is not worth trying to “game the system” in this manner.
Perhaps but you would have to do a lot better than History. Also, your ECs need to show something related. Even STEM applicants have usually done programs or research or ECs related to their area of interest.
Also depends how bad your GPA. 3.95 instead of a 4.0 as opposed to a 3.65?
