Basically, after my sophomore year of traditional high school I left to test out online high school, which worked much better for me. Now, generally speaking…since I will be graduating from online school (I’m a senior currently) will that kill my chances of being accepted into USC? My stepdad, uncle, and stepmom all graduated from USC, two become doctors (a surgeon and pediatrician) and the other a chemist (was offered a job as a professor at SC as well.) Therefore, understandably, I dreamed of going the that school ever since I was a little girl. What must I do in order to boost my chances of being accepted, considering my circumstances? I know that a solid SAT score and GPA are necessary, but can you give me details? Would my connections be able to help me at all, and would recommendations from alumni help? I’m not relying on that, obviously, but I hope it would boost my chances. I’m lost. Help?

Your connections will help but only as icing on the cake. It’s still about GPA and standardized tests as a base. Home schooled/unaccredited high school applicants are required to submit 3 SAT IIs with at least one being in Math. Make sure and schedule those exams.
