I had a bad medical emergency last quarter and had my hand in a cast for 6 weeks and had surgery aswell. I ended up missing a test and some hw assignments. Instead of getting a C in the course I decided to fail it instead then retake it.
3 days after summer classes opened to sign up, the class became full, I was on the wait list for weeks and now the professor is saying the class is full and to take it next quarter!!!
That means this F will show on my transcript!
I plan on applying to different state and UC schools this fall. If I apply normally, but retake the course and Ace it, then update my transcript and show them that I retook the course and passed. Maybe even explain on my application what had happened, that I can still get into some good schools or is it a deal breaker for me.
I’m extremely nervous and don’t know what to do.
Take it in fall and it will be OK. Then note in the application in the additional comments about your hand, and even mention you have the medical documentation, if needed. As long as they see the repeat grade by end of fall, you’re fine. It will not affect your chances.
If you take it in fall, you’ll be ok for UCs. I don’t know how it would affect the other state university you plan to apply to. Some schools average the 2 grades and others will only view the last grade.
