Applying.

I just finished Grade 11 in Egypt, and I’m planing to apply to a university after I finish High school. If I decided to to apply to a community college in the USA instead of doing my last year of high school in Egypt, will this be a better solution ? Does a first year of community college has the same classes as a last year of high school ? Will this solution make my application to a university much stronger ?

Thank you in advance.

You’ll miss out on any financial aid offered to freshmen students, as you’ll be considered a transfer. Otherwise, I doubt it will have much, if any, impact.

Are you Egyptian, or an American living abroad?

Do you need financial aid?

Do you know what colleges or universities you want to end up in?

I’m Egyptian living in Egypt. Yes, I seriously need the financial aid that it will be offered.
I’m going to apply to different universities, my goal is to get in MIT. Yes, I know the competition is hard but I have the honor of trying.

So, Should I finish High school in Egypt, apply from here, and get there in the US as a freshmen ?

Thank you for your response. I appreciate it.

You will receive effectively no financial aid from any community college in the United States.

Only From the Community College ? And the financial aid of the university ?

Only the richest and most famous American universities have significant financial aid for international students. And, as you have already noted, the competition for admission to those universities, and for money, is intense.

But to answer your immediate question, if your family doesn’t have the means to pay for you to attend community college in the U.S., then that probably isn’t even an option for you. It seems you should finish secondary school in Egypt.

Thanks for your reply ! I appreciate it
