I was just thinking about Curmudgeon yesterday and his daughter. I wondered where she was not, figuring she might be at a hospital treating COVID patients.
^I remember when curmudgeon was the new kid on the block.
sac, slugbug, marite, carolyn, jamimom, cheers, so many more
And there were a group of posters on the board before it changed in 04, who either left or came back with new usernames.
Curmudgeon is the person I talked to on the phone! He helped me think through a legal situation when my mom died.
Another poster and I were just talking about Curm, turns out his DD has little kids and is working.
Grandpa Curmudgeon! WOW!!!
Has anyone heard from @Consolation ?
Late to the party, but raising my coffee mug to you all! Love having this community of wise and interesting folks, who aren’t afraid to tell a hard truth when necessary.
As to what do you tell people, my son saw that I had done a search for “when do foster kids age out in Nebraska” which was related to an earlier thread and of course wondered why on earth I would be doing a search for that! I tend to be a bit vague.
Lifting my already-reheated-5-times-but-now-cold-again mug of Earl Grey tea with soymilk to you all. Been on CC since 2005. My whole family (7 kids–in HS classes 2006-2023–and H) knows about it. Countless times I’ve started conversations with, “I read on CC…”
Never met anyone irl, but have been pen pals of sorts with a couple posters.
Anyone else remember molliebatmit’s wedding? I wonder whatever happened to berurah–and a lot of the posters from way back mentioned above.
Many are grandparents, including me.
@garland: I was at that lunch in NYC. We met in Grand Central Station. There were about 12 or 15 of us. Jym626 organized it.
I did meet Oaklandmom, and I wish she and others would just stop by for a quick update.
Any of you remember PizzaGirl? I loved that sassy wench, even as she zapped me a few times.
@VeryHappy – this was a differ meeting, four people, different place. That sounds like fun though, but I wasn’t there.
It’s kind of like real life. People just kind of disappear. “Remember the Smiths? We used to see them all the time!”
@Nrdsb4 I’m friends with pizzagirl. She sends everyone her regards! She’s doing well.
Sometimes people get banned and HAVE to disappear.
This thread is particularly appreciated. Have been hanging around here for at least 15 years; more than 1 user name (for usual reason), plus a bit of initial lurking. Helped me to help loved ones navigate their 3 college admissions, tend 3 now deceased elders, help plan a wedding and generally learn a lot. Kids are through their educations by many years now; still here. Gratitude and cheers to all of you!
So neat to read through a few of these posts and see some familiar names! I didn’t post much but came here when my now-28 year old S was considering boarding school in 2005. Now here again since my youngest D is graduating HS. I remember the passing of Latetoschool (sadly) and other milestones. Became FB friends with a few members, parents of HS class of 2009.
Such a group of caring, insightful, thoughtful parents! Some wise, poetic comments I read a decade or more ago still linger.
Best wishes.
I am a newcomer (spring of 2008). You have helped me stay sane through any number of different things. I raise a virtual glass of your favorite beverage to each and every one of you. Here is to virtual, but truly real, friends.
I just posted this in the Moderation thread
@MomofWildChild , please tell Pizzagirl that I say APhi hello.
