Who is Charles Coughlin?

A: Battle of new orleans ironic, because it was fought after the treaty was signed and there was an armistice. But America showed it’s strength and power over the British, and recognized ANDREW JACKSON AS A WAR HERO!

How about the Hartford Convention…What did it do?

i think coughlin was a critic of FDR’s New Deal…

what’s the difference between the Dawes Severalty Act and the Dawes Plan?

The Hartford Convention cast a bad light on the Federalists (and ultimately killed the party) because their talk of secession during a time of war was seen as traitorous

put the federalists to shame (hartford convention)

edit/ i really need to start stating what questions i answer…

hartford convention led to the death of the federalist party because it didn’t achieve its goals [i.e. getting rid of the 3/5 compromise, restriciting presidential terms to 1 etc.] during the time of the end of the War of 1812/ the Treaty of Ghent

----Labor in the late 1800s, early 1900s

Knights of Labor: i believe they came first. They were very diverse and attempted to include blacks and women which caused disunity because white males didn’t want to cooperate with them.

American Federation of Labor: Was more of a collection of skilled labor unions. They weren’t diverse enough and companies easily employed strikebreakers to thwart their protests. Founded by Samuel Gompers.

I believe one of those two met their death with the recession, but i can’t remember which one.

Haymarket Square Incident: Like a mini-terrorist attack that had nothing to do with the AFL but got associated with them. Made the public wary of labor unions and set them back.

ICC and Sherman antitrust act passed by Harrison but didn’t really have any teeth.

In Pullman strike and Homestead strike government was on the side of big business

Teddy finally helped labor by passing Hepburn act which exempted labor unions from anti-trust laws, Taft proved to be the real trust buster.

The Dawes Severalty Act was for Indians and the Dawes Plan was for aiding europe with money.

i fogot the specifics of both. :(

Dawes Severalty: tried to assimilate Indians whilst seizing their lands if they don’t (late 1800s)
Dawes Plan: after WWI, encouraged investors to help germany pay its debts, I think

thanks tyler.

btw does anybody know if we are supposed to analyze pov/bias in the us dbq like the euro dbq?

jcll2002: not that i’ve heard of. I’ve gone through a bunch of DBQs and they didn’t have us analyze anything like that… I wouldn’t rule it out though.

EVERYONE GOOD LUCK ON THE TEST TOMORROW. I’m out.

What is the Kellogg Briand act?

Dawes act was passed in 1882? under harrison i think and basically encouraged indians assimilation so broke tribal lands into individual plots for families
Dawes plan was used after WWI to lend money to germany(?) who would pay its debt to france and britain, who would pay their debts to US

thanks and good night fantastical ~

the kellogg-briand pact involved numerous nations [~60…i believe?] agreeing not to resort to war to solve problems
i’m not sure ^

The Kellogg Briand Pact outlawed offensive war.

Q: What was the battle of anacostia flats?

What were the failures of reconstruction?

its the obscure name of the battle between the macarthur led us army and the bonus expeditionary force.

so, is it necessary to mention your sources, i was reading sample DBQs, and a DBQ that scored a nine didn’t even specifically reference the doucments?!?

Who is Aaron Burr?

just to be safe, i would reference.
