k thanks.

what was pequot’s war?

What are the Cherokee Memorials?

MY teacher rammed the notion into our heads that you are suppose draw a conclusions from the documents and then link them to something else. He always says you have to analyze. Just recapping wont do anything for you.
You have to reference the documents. You can do it using the author or by document name or just like Document A
but don’t just paraphrase

A question I’m really confused about:
Which of the following group was LEAST likely to respond with enthusiasm to the religious fervor of the Great Awakening in the 1730s and 1740s?

Why is the answer “Established merchants in cities like Boston and Philadelphia”? This was a question from a released exam.

what were the other answers?

(B) Presbyterians in the southern colonies
(C) Backwood farmers isolated on the colonial frontier
(D) Landless sons in New England communities
(E) Itinerant preachers unable to find permanent parishes for themselves

The answer was (A), about the merchants.

Can somebody explain why (A)'s the answer?

Merchants were economically sound and had no motivation to succumb to religious fervor.

-because great awakening was directed more toward the south(presbyterian), not puritan north(where the merchants were).

what was the peggy eaton affair?

She was a political ho. She married Eaton, a cabinet member, before she divorced her first husband. She was shunned by the other political wives. Pres Jackson fired Eaton because of the scandal she created.

Peggy eaton affair was about the prostitute and then Jackson fried all of his cabinet members except for Martin Von Bueron. I can’t remember specifics though.

About the great awakening…it was aimed mostly at people who were moving out west too. The merchants had never really been part of the congregationalist churches so there is no reason for the preachers to try and scare them into becoming members.

Wait, Jackson protected Eaton, not fired her.

he fired the husband

eaton affair’s real significance is the fractured relationship between Jackson and Calhoun (whose wife despised Peggy Eaton).

Good Luck Everyone!
