One of my kids is looking at a 5 to 7 year architecture program from HS. He didn’t know how long it actually takes to get “established” with a relatively normal wage. Thank you for any replies.

In a ‘normal’ economy most graduates find their first satisfactory job immediately upon graduation. We hired three new graduates this year with salaries of over $45k, and I would define that as a relatively normal salary. However the competition is pretty intense for these positions. When the economy is good it can be the other way around, and we have to really fight to get the top graduates.

I asked one of the new hires from June what percentage of her class had found a job in an architecture firm three months after graduation, and she estimated about 25% of the class. It may take a little longer for the rest, and I’m sure quite a few may get frustrated and find alternate careers.
