Architecture Club

I’m in the process of starting up an architecture club, but i’m really lacking some legitament ideas to persue it. Does anyone out have any helpful advice or any good ideas that would help.

You could ask local architects if they would like to come talk to you and/or visit their offices. You could hook up with your local historic preservation committee or historical society and see if you could help them. They often have architectural or house tours as fundraisers. You could team up with Habitat for Humanity and help build some houses. You could talk to a local college and see if a professor there would like to give you guys a talk. You could find out if you could build something for a local park (like a shelter or shed) under the supervision of an adult.

Wow. Great advice mathmom.
Thanks.

mathmom you really know what you are talking about.

The club can have TED viewing parties that can serve as the foundation for discussions and brainstorming.

Good call Stitch, the TED talks about architecture and design that are available online are awesome.

Something else you might enjoy in your club is watching some episodes of the “Architecture School”. It follows real life Tulane Architecture students through the process of designing and building a single family house for Katrina victims. [Sundance Channel : Architecture School](http://www.sundancechannel.com/architecture-school). For a while the first episode was free, but I don’t think it is anymore. They are available through itunes at a very reasonable price.
